MacIntosh’s management company confirmed the news in a statement to Variety, saying, “It is with a heavy heart I can confirm the very sad news of our client Ewen’s passing. Ewen was a wonderful actor and an even better human being.” The statement continued, “He made people laugh and possessed such a kind heart. He touched the lives of all who came into contact with him.” MacIntosh had been battling ill health for the past two years and passed away peacefully on February 19th from undisclosed causes.

Born in Wales, MacIntosh’s career spanned various shows on stage and screen. He appeared in “Little Britain” and the reality series “Celebrity Come Dine with Me,” and also showcased his talents at the Edinburgh Fridge Festival in 2007.

A Comedy Icon

However, it was his role in the groundbreaking comedy series “The Office” that truly solidified MacIntosh’s place in U.K. TV history. The show, which aired from 2001 to 2003, was a critical and commercial success, catapulting its creators, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, to stardom. MacIntosh’s portrayal of Keith, the deadpan accountant, won the hearts of viewers and critics alike, with his memorable scenes becoming iconic moments in the series.

Continuing His Legacy

Following his success in “The Office,” MacIntosh collaborated with Gervais once again in the final series of “After Life.” In this series, he played a man who had been banned from an all-you-can-eat restaurant, showcasing his versatility and comedic timing.

As news of his passing spreads, tributes from fans and colleagues have flooded social media, celebrating his life and the joy he brought to so many. His family has requested privacy as they mourn the loss of a beloved actor and cherished family member.
